There are loads of reasons why people decide to start an online home business and some of them include convincing sales copy and promised riches.
Sales pages are read and the emotions that promises of riches with the least amount of effort instill in us become more powerful than our logical mind that will very happily let us know that we really dont need it!
Our emotional response to a sales page is what hooks and the need to be lead by someone we hope will show us the way to a no-brainer cash cow with an endless stream of $100 bills is what has us whipping out our credit card faster than we can say compound interest!
You could try willpower as a method to stop this endless, expensive necessity to buy, but it can be easier said than done. When you are staring at a timer ticking down the seconds before the offer ends, or there is a fast action bonus that you have convinced yourself you need. Or even worse, the price is rising with every second that passes and the longer you wait the more expensive the product gets. Resistance of any kind is futile.
And while these are all fantastic marketing techniques when you are the seller, they are an absolute nightmare when you are the buyer.
Your credit card takes yet another hit as you buy the latest piece of viral software or adsense templates. Your credit card absolutely cowers when you add the latest article site monthly membership fee, and it gasps for air when you add the new gurus coaching program onto to it!
Then the end of the month arrives, your credit card bill is sent to you in an envelope large enough to carry a bucket of water and you place it on your desk, under your pile of to do papers because you cant bear to open it.
Yes folks, when the marketing machine hooks you there is little you can do but give in and buy. Or is there? Here are 7 proven ways (and I know they are proven because I had to use them myself) to stop credit card overload:
1. Create a vision for your business. I always get back to this because for me it is one of the most important things. If you know you are focusing on writing info products you dont need the latest gadget software. If you have decided to focus on affiliate marketing, you dont need membership to the latest adsense templates. Focus, focus, focus with a vision for your business and whatever that vision is dont allow anything to come along and deter you from it.
2. Stop okay so the price of the product is increasing before your eyes, but stop anyway and ask yourself Is this something I really need, and how will I use it within the next 24 hours? If you dont know how you will immediately put it to use I would argue that you really dont need it right now. I have spoken to many people who have bought a product and have not gotten round to using it 6 months later (okay, yes, I am talking about myself again!)
3. Delete the email dont even read it, when you are stronger (you will know you are stronger because you stop salivating when a new email offer arrives), open the email and unsubscribe from all these mailing lists you are on!
4. If curiosity really is killing you and you have to open and read the email then BEFORE you click that link to take a look, stop and let your logical mind take over. Tell yourself you are only looking and before you buy you will read the entire sales page TWICE! Thats the deal, if you end up wanting whats on offer you can only buy it if you have read the entire sales page from start to finish twice.
5. Read the entire sales page TWICE Research has shown that long sales copy works. Its my personal belief that the only reason why they work is because we are too lazy to read them, so we go from the top of the page and the headline straight down to the fast action bonuses and hit the Buy now link. If you really think you need this product then read the sales page from start to finish at least twice. I recommend 4 times to be sure. If after reading it four times you are sure you need it then who am I to say otherwise!
6. Dont put your email receipts in a separate folder I watched a TV show recently that did an experiment. Two tables, with people who balanced out in weight, height and age one table was fed chicken legs and the bones were left in front of them. The other table was fed chicken legs and the bones were removed from the table once they had finished. The table without the reminder of how many chicken legs they had eaten (because they were removed from the table) ate 4 TIMES as much as the table with the chicken bones left in front of them. Why am I telling you this? Well do the same with your online receipts. It is easy to forget about that $27 ebook, or $8 domain you bought. Leave all your receipts for that month in your inbox. Let them add to the number of emails you have. Never open them. It is important they remain unopened and highlighted. You will be surprised at how many purchase receipts you actually accumulate and it definitely stops the spending!
7. Find yourself a business where you dont need any extras! internet marketing is such a huge area that its easy to believe you need to buy all the latest products for your business. Find yourself an online business that provides you with just about everything you need. That doesnt mean you never have to buy anything again. It just means that you need less and so can be conservative in your spending.

Emerging Corporate Information Security Threats
The time when worms and viruses were a top priority of IT are long behind us. Botnets and phishing attacks now dominate the webscape and new variations are emerging daily.
Botnets:
To give you an idea on how prevalent this threat is becoming, Zombie Master Jeanson Ancheta pleaded guilty to seizing control of hundreds of thousands of Internet-connected computers and renting the zombie network to people who used it to send out spam. Keep in mind that this "Zombie Network" included computers at the Weapons Division of the U.S. Naval Air Warfare Center in China Lake, California, and at the U.S. Department of Defense.
Ancheta admitted that the scam netted him over $60,000 over 14 months before it was detected. This mindset, motivated by money and working in the background, is typical of the new generation of Internet criminals. The spyware they surreptitiously plant on an unsuspecting user's computer leaves a very small footprint (barely detectable) and worka as a "Slave" to a remote "Master". The End user usually isn't aware that their personal computer or workstation has been "hijacked" as the computer continues to function, perhaps a little slower.
"Botnets", also known as Bot Networks, are masses of hijacked computers, sometimes numbering in the hundreds of thousands as was the case with Ancheta who admitted to directing more than 400,000 computers. Industry research indicates that almost 200,000 computers become zombies EVERYDAY and that figure is steadily rising (Source: CipherTrust).
Historically, Botnets were used to launch DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service attacks) on websites. A disturbing new trend developed by this generation of Internet criminals is to rent their networks to those who want to launch cheap mass email campaigns (also known as Spam) or to extortionists to launch DDoS attacks on legitimate websites. Botnets pose an even more insidious threat. According to Dave Rand, Chief Technologist at Trend Micro, their combined computing power could be used to decrypt Internet traffic. If that were to happen (and thankfully there is no sign of it yet), it could bring e-commerce to a grinding halt.
Phishing Expeditions:
Industry experts state that phishing attacks will grow in frequency and sophistication over time. This trend is already developing at a fast pace as pointed by David Sancho, an antivirus engineer at security company Trend Micro. David pointed out an attack in Germany which claimed to be from a power company and asked the recipients to click on an attached file that appeared to be a PDF document, which is a file type that the power company uses for paperless billing. In actuality, the file had a .pdf.exe extension and installed a Trojan on the user's computer when it was executed.
The Trojan then monitored the user's Internet activity (Web pages and online banking access), and sent this information to the Trojan's creator. "It is smarter, because they (the Internet criminals) don't have to set up a fake server,", said David.
According to Mikko Hypponen, Chief Research Officer at F-Secure. "The bad boys are getting more professional and doing more targeted attacks."
Though Windows PCs remain the primary target for attacks, prepare to see more sophisticated Botnets and phishing attacks, as well as attacks targeting cell phones and RSS News Feeds.
The Solution
These attacks are major problems that cannot be easily resolved, because the target PCs are primarily home computers and corporate networks connected to an ADSL line. According to Hypponen "It takes a lot of end-user support to explain to a grandmother how to configure the computer. So most ISPs are not doing anything about it".
For networked environments, there are several alternatives that can be implemented at your network's perimeter to mitigate the security risk. For years you have set the pace for others to follow. I want you to look at a less known avenue other than Nursing Homes and Assisted Living that will meet your needs and stretch your funds. It is presently a little known industry called Adult Family Homes. Presently I live in Washington State where Adult Family Homes are diamonds in the rough. Neatly tucked away places within the community that are licensed by the State of Washington to care for currently up to six people at a time. Staffing level at worst is 6:1 in this close nit community living designed to care for the aging needs of the baby Boomers. Adult Family Homes are usually only a fraction of the cost of facility type living with three square meals and most owners are credentialed as Certified Nursing Assistants, Registered Nursing Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses or Registered Nurses, qualified.
If you are one of those people who thought Nursing Homes and Assisted Living facilities were all there were for your future, Welcome to the world of Adult Family Home living! Adult Family Homes are private residential homes, which care for one to six people ages 18 or older. These privately owned homes provide room, board, laundry, necessary supervision with medications, and assistance with activities of daily living, personal care, and social services. They can also provide some additional nursing oversight and services. All Adult Family Homes are licensed, regulated and inspected by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services Disabilities and Long Term Care Administration.
Adult Family Homes are available to people with a variety of functional limitations found in the older population and some people may be with other disabilities (e.g. developmental disabilities, mental illness, physical disabilities). Adult Family Homes usually have a mix of male and female residents. Couples can usually be arranged for as well. Adult Family Homes provide a written plan of services required that states the needs of the individual and what assistance will be provided. The individual, family and Adult Family Home provider jointly prepare the plan, preferably prior to the individual's move into the home. Adult Family Home operators may provide care themselves, or hire and supervise caregivers who will provide care. Caregivers must meet the same personal and criminal background check requirements as the owners/providers, and many of the same training requirements.

Caribbean Food - A Little History
The Arawak, Carib, and Taino Indians were the first inhabitants of the Caribbean islands. These first inhabitants occupied the present day islands of British Virgin Islands, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Trinidad, and Jamaica. Their daily diet consisted of vegetables and fruits such as papaw, yams, guavas, and cassava. The Taino started the process of cooking meat and fish in large clay pots.
The Arawaks are the first people known to make a grate of thin green wood strips on which they slowly cooked meat, allowing it to be enhanced by the flavor of the wood. This grate was called a barbacoa, and the word we know today as barbeque is taken from this early Indian cooking method.
The Carib Indians added more spice to their food with hot pepper sauces, and also added lemon and lime juice to their meat and fish recipes. The Caribs are said to have made the first pepper pot stew. No recipes exist since every time the Indians made the dish, they would always add new ingredients. The Carib had a big impact on early Caribbean history, and the Caribbean sea was named after this tribe.
Then the Caribbean became a crossroads for the world . . .
Once the Europeans brought Africans slaves into the region, the slaves diet consisted mostly of food the slave owners did not want to eat. So the slaves had to be inventive, and they blended their traditional African foods with staples found on the islands. The Africans introduced okra, callaloo, fish cakes, saltfish, ackee, pudding and souse, mangos, and the list goes on.
Most present day Caribbean island locals eat a present diet that is reflective of the main ingredients of original early African dishes, and includes cassava, sweet potatoes, yams, plantains, bananas and corn meal.
African men were hunters in their homeland, and often away from home for long periods of time. They would cook spicy pork over hot coals, and this tradition was refined by the early slaves in Jamaica. The technique is known today as jerk cooking , and the secret involves a slow meat cooking process. Jamaica is famous for jerk chicken and pork, and youll find jerk all over the island.
After slavery was abolished, the Europeans went to India and China for labor, and more cooking styles were introduced. Much of the Indian cooking culture remains alive and well in the Caribbean of today with the introduction of curried meats and curry powder. Indians call it kari podi, and we have come to know this pungent flavor as curry.
The Chinese introduced rice, which is always a staple in home cooked island meals. The Chinese also introduced mustard, and the early Portuguese sailors introduced the popular codfish.
Most visitors to the Caribbean have no idea that the fruit trees and fruits so familiar to the islands were introduced by the early Spanish explorers. The fruit trees and fruits brought from Spain include orange, lime, ginger, plantains, figs, date palms, sugar cane, grapes, tamarinds and coconuts.
Even the Polynesian islands play an important role in Caribbean cooking. Most of us remember the movie Mutiny on the Bounty, but do not know that particular ship carried breadfruit, which was loaded on board from the islands of Tahiti and Timor. In the movie the crew took over the ship, forced the captain into a small boat to fend on his own, and they threw the breadfruit, which they considered strange fruit overboard. Another ship was more successful in bringing breadfruit from Polynesia to Jamaica and the St Vincent and the Grenadines. Breadfruit is a staple diet in the current day Caribbean
America is responsible for introducing beans, corn, squash, potatoes, tomatoes, and chili pepper to the Caribbean. In fact these particular foods had never been seen in Asia, Europe or Africa, so America actually introduced these foods the rest of the world via the Caribbean.
So it's no wonder Caribbean cooking is so rich and creative with the flavors of Africa, India, and China, along with Spanish, Danish, Portuguese, French and British influences. Food served in the Caribbean islands have been influenced by the cultures of the world, but each island adds its own special flavor and cooking technique.

For years you have set the pace for others to follow. It is presently a little known industry called Adult Family Homes. Presently I live in Washington State where Adult Family Homes are diamonds in the rough. Neatly tucked away places within the community that are licensed by the State of Washington to care for currently up to six people at a time. Staffing level at worst is 6:1 in this close nit community living designed to care for the aging needs of the baby Boomers. Adult Family Homes are usually only a fraction of the cost of facility type living with three square meals and most owners are credentialed as Certified Nursing Assistants, Registered Nursing Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses or Registered Nurses, qualified.
If you are one of those people who thought Nursing Homes and Assisted Living facilities were all there were for your future, Welcome to the world of Adult Family Home living! Adult Family Homes are private residential homes, which care for one to six people ages 18 or older. These privately owned homes provide room, board, laundry, necessary supervision with medications, and assistance with activities of daily living, personal care, and social services. They can also provide some additional nursing oversight and services. All Adult Family Homes are licensed, regulated and inspected by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services Disabilities and Long Term Care Administration.
Adult Family Homes are available to people with a variety of functional limitations found in the older population and some people may be with other disabilities (e.g. developmental disabilities, mental illness, physical disabilities). Adult Family Homes usually have a mix of male and female residents. Couples can usually be arranged for as well. Adult Family Homes provide a written plan of services required that states the needs of the individual and what assistance will be provided. Providers must meet all state qualifications and requirements for an initial license, and yearly renewals. These requirements include:
22 hours of pre-service training and 10 hours per year to renew their license
Criminal background check of all employees
Home inspection (to meet specific health and safety standards as defined by law) and re-inspections approximately every 12 months
Homes found to violate rules must make corrections to retain their license. These are similar to actions taken by large facilities like nursing homes and assisted living.
Specialty training is required when a provider desires to serve people with developmental disabilities, dementia or other special conditions (defined by law).
Adult Family Home operators may provide care themselves, or hire and supervise caregivers who will provide care. Caregivers must meet the same personal and criminal background check requirements as the owners/providers, and many of the same training requirements.

Troubleshoot Windows with Task Manager
Task Manager is a Windows system utility that displays the
tasks or processes currently running on your computer. To
open Task Manager, press Ctrl+Alt+Del. The Applcations tab
lists the applications currently running on your computer.
A single application may actually consist of several running
processes, and many programs that run in the background are
not listed (you can see icons for some of these programs in
the System Tray).
Note: With Windows 98 and Windows Me, Ctrl+Alt+Del will
open Program Manager, which allows you only to close
aplications. However, you can download one of the many Task
Manager utilities from the Web.
The Processes tab displays a comprehensive list of all the
processes currently running on your computer. This can be
very useful for monitoring your system. The process tab
displays information about the processor useage and memory
usage of each process. The problem is, how to identify a
process. Below is a list of some processes you may see in
Task Managers Processes list.
"System Idle Process"
"System" The Windows System Process
"SMSS.EXE" Session Manager Subsystem
"CSRSS.EXE" Client Server Runtime Subsystem
"WinLOGON.EXE" The Windows Logon process
"SERVICES.EXE" Services Control Manager
"LSASS.EXE" Local Security Authentication Server Service
"svchost.exe" Service Host
"spoolsv.exe" The print spooler service
"explorer.exe" Windows Explorer
"TASKMGR.EXE" The Task Manager
"regsvc.exe" Remote Registry Service
"System Idle Process" is basically another name for the
time when Windows is doing nothing. There are hundreds of
thousands of processes that run on a computer, so you will
definitely find names of many other processess that are
not listed above. For a list of well known processes,

You can also learn about almost any task by using it's
name as a search term in google.
Task Manager can also be used to tweak your system if it's
running slow. The Performance tab displays running graphs
of your computers CPU and memory usage. If the CPU usage
seems to be running over 80 percent most of the time, or if
the memory usage seems to be running higher than the total
physical memory, you may want to shut down some
applications or processes.
On the Process tab, you can identify processes that are
consuming a lot of processor time. Click twice on the CPU
column heading to sort the CPU column so the processes
hogging the most CPU time on top. You can sort the
"Mem Usage" column the same way.
On the Application tab, if you right click on the name of
an application and, in the popup menu that appears, choose
"Go To Process", Task Manager will open the Processes tab
and highlight the process that runs the application. On the
Processes tab, if you right-click on the name of a process,
you can choose "SetPriority" and promote the priority of
the process you need (or demote the priority of a different
process to free up some resources).
If you go to the Application tab and shut down an
application, you will shut down any processes related to
that application. Or, you might choose to shut down a
background process that you can identify. To shut down an
application or process, click on it's name in the list to
highlight it, then click on the End Task button.
On the Processes tab, if you right click on the name of a
process, you can choose "End Process Tree" to kill the
process and any sub-processes started by the process.
Task Manager can also be used for troubleshooting. If an
application freezes up, you can open Task Manager and shut
down the application. If the entire system freezes up, you
can use Task Manager to shut down a process that is hogging
all the CPU time or memory.
If you spend some time monitoring your computer with task
Manager, eventually you will become familiar with the
processes that commonly run. Then, when you see an
unfamiliar process, you can do a little investigation to
make sure it's not a virus. For example, if you see
msblast.exe in the process list, your computer is infected
with the Blaster virus. You might be able to detect and
eliminate a new virus before an antivirus update is available.

"Muggles" Make Magical music
Its nearly midnight and Im standing in a long and winding line that seems to go on forever. I shift from foot to foot and lean on a nearby bookshelf, exhausted. I pass the time by eavesdropping in on the many conversations humming around me: the excited chatter of expectations and premonitions. A clerks PA announcement, only two more minutes, raises whoops and cheers and my stomach is full of giddy butterflies. We have been waiting for years for this single event and now the last few minutes seem unbearable. I have not felt this eager for a single event since Christmas as a child.
I gaze tiredly at the several hundred people up and down the line and snicker at our black robes and pointed hats. How silly we adults must look as we anxiously count the seconds until we can get our hands on the final climatic Harry Potter book in the so-called childrens series.
J.K. Rowling had truly created another world and it is truly magical. Her influence in the literary world inspired children to put down their Gameboy and pick up a book. The English vernacular adopted new words like quiddich, muggle and Voldemort. Everything in pop culture from fashion to film has been influenced by the series of seven books.
But beyond the 350,000,000+ copies of the books sold worldwide to date and the extensive marketing of toys, candies, lunchboxes, socks, toothbrushes, lampshades and any other conceivable number of things to be bought is the tremendous impact the Harry Potter story has had on music.
For starters there are the film scores to the movies by John Williams, Patrick Doyle and Nicholas Hooper that have reached multi-platinum levels for sales on the musiccharts. The popular Hedwigs Theme, written by Williams, has been featured in all the films and is the Harry Potter anthem for dedicated fans. Heck, you can set it as the ring tone for your cellphone!
Beyond merchandising the film scores have received critical acclaim. Two of the movies were nominated for Academy Awards for best dramatic score arranged for full symphony. Amateur musicians have bought millions of sheet musicbooks featuring themes arranged for piano, violin, clarinet and other instruments under the Warner Brothers label.
Pros have taken the themes to new levels, such as the Mark Kramer Jazz Trio who recorded "Hogwarts Forever" "Nimbus 2000" and "Harrys Wondrous World" among other titles. Then there are junior songsmiths altering popular songs to take on a Harry Potter flair. Sing along to "Harry in the Sky with Diamonds," "Reach for the Scar" and "Harry Squarepants," but mind the copyright on the melody, please!
A new fad for those digitally inclined is creating musicvideos set to pop songs using clips from the Harry Potter films. Veritaserum.com, a popular Harry Potter fan site, currently has 149 such musicvideos posted. The videos feature musicby Alanis Morissette, Glen Stefani, Evanescence, Kelly Clarkson and The Black Eyed Peas among many other artists cleverly set to shots from the movies.
Each musicvideo tells a story and some are more professional than others. Love is the most popular theme and the teens go nuts for it. If you think its all done by and for kids, think again. Videos with musicby Credence Clearwater Revival, Simon and Garfunkel, The Who, Elton John and Anne Murray lead me to suspect some boomers are getting into the medium as well.
Interestingly these musicvideos are distributed widely online despite obvious copyright issues with the recording and film industries. But similar restrictions from the book publisher didnt stop people posting the books online in PDF format and several lawsuits are in the works.
By far the most fascinating facet of Harry Potter in musicwas the introduction of "wizard rock" in 2002. This new branch of pop music, usually shortened to "wrock" by loyal fans, has over 200 bands based mostly in the US who play musicentirely about the Harry Potter books.
The first-ever wrock band was teen brother duo "Harry and the Potters" from Massachusetts who portray themselves as the series main character Harry Potter at ages 14 and 17. Many wrock band songs are written from the viewpoint of the character from which the band was named, thus Harry and the Potters share musically what life as "the boy who lived" is like.
Unlike many other popular musicbands who have written concept songs inspired by literature [cue Led Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore" based on Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings"], wrock bands' only topic or influence is that of the Harry Potter domain. Song topics range from the mundane (life as a teenaged wizard and mushy love songs about the main characters) to the profound (the war of good and evil and prophecy). Some of it is just good, clean magical fun and far more appropriate for school-aged kids than most of the rubbish on the radio.

If you think this is just a garage band movement for pre-pubescents, some of these bands are cutting CDs and maintaining busy tour schedules. Draco and the Malfoys, The Whomping Willows, The Parselmouths and The Remus Lupins performed at the May 2007 fan convention, Phoenix Rising, to countless ecstatic fans.
Most of the bands prefer to perform in libraries, bookstores and schools to promote reading. Almost all wrock bands perform in costume. An upcoming documentary film, Wizard Rockumentary: A Movie About Rocking and Rowling, will explore the wizard rock musicmovement. The clock strikes midnight. Potterphiles push in line as store clerks slash towering stacks of sealed boxes open. Successful buyers clutch their shopping bags close as they exit the bookstore in haste. Some cant wait to get home and read huddled together on the lit curb outside the store.
A middle-aged woman slaps her daughter's hands, asserting, "Hands off, kid! Get your own copy" I watch with hungry eyes forever: its 15 minutes until I am at the front of the line. Finally I cradle a copy of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" and stroke the thick spine lovingly. Mine was one in over 15 million copies (that's with six zeros, folks) sold worldwide in the first 24 hours.
A day or so and many handkerchiefs later I have polished it off and have the post-series blues. Its all over and theres no other books to look forward to. No spoilers here, suffice to say I believe it was Rowling's best work yet and worth boycotting television, food or sleep in order to complete the 607-page read in one sitting.
What's next for we fans of this magical series? Well, even if Rowling keeps her word and does not write anything further on her world of magic, she has inspired generations to come with her craft.
